Leandro Paredes was expected to be the next star at AS Roma but things haven’t gone as planned for the 22-year-old defensive midfielder. The Argentine hasn’t been at his best for the Serie A club and Calciomercato claim that the capital club are set to sell the player in the summer.
The 22-year-old was seen as the perfect replacement for Danielle De Rossi after the Italian picked up an injury but he has not been able to fit into the side all too well. Paredes has only played in 22 Serie A games with 12 of them being substitute appearances.
The defensive midfielder has scored three goals though, despite playing in a deeper position and he is known for his range of passing and tackling ability. The report also claims that Paredes will be assessed for the next two months, till the end of the season, and then a decision will be taken about shuffling players about at the Stadio Olimpico.
That will come as great news for Liverpool, who are one of the clubs tracking the young Argentine. Jurgen Klopp has had to deal with disappointment by learning that Mahmoud Dahoud, one of his targets for next season will be joining Borussia Dortmund and will be looking to ensure they do not lose out on another signing soon.
Roma aren’t doing well financially and even though they might make it to the Champions League next season, selling their best players has become a norm for the club.
The report claims that €25 million would be enough to pry Paredes away from the club and if the Reds can lodge a similar bid, they will have this player in their squad next season.
Liverpool have struggled to get the players they have wanted recently and the loss of Dahoud will hurt a lot. It will be interesting to see if Paredes is the player for Klopp but for now, the German has other targets to snatch such as Julian Brandt and Christian Pulisic.
