The Merseyside derby is one of the biggest rivalries in the world and when Liverpool host Everton on Saturday, a lot of blood and thunder football will be on display at Anfield.
Liverpool had won the previous encounter thanks to a late goal from Sadio Mane but these games are often too hard to predict. Small mistakes can lead to game-changing moments and that is something that both sides will hope for as they look to confirm their participation in European football next season.
Both clubs also have a number of injuries to deal with and it seems that Jordan Henderson, the Liverpool captain, will not make it to the derby. That will come as a huge loss to the home side and with Adam Lallana out of the game as well, there are good chances that Lucas Leiva will take part in the midfield.
The Brazilian has played a number of games in the heart of the defence and has struggled to perform. Liverpool fans weren’t all that happy with this development and they took to Twitter to voice their displeasure.
Bench will be filled with kids so up to the first XI to do the business. Suspect it will have to be Lucas coming into midfield 🙁

If Lucas starts it’s solely because he’s a “veteran” and “knows what the derby is about”. Ability-wise he’s far away from the best option.

If Lucas is CB against Lukaku we are fucked https://t.co/Pp4X2VtZw8

If Lucas plays tomorrow it shows a distinct and disturbing lack of faith in our young players. #LFC

Surely Matip should be carrying Lucas? pic.twitter.com/GTtT8b22vk

With Lallana and Henderson both out we’re bare boned. Personally I’d move Coutinho back to CM and keep Can DM, don’t put Lucas anywhere near

Can’t wait for it to be 2-1, Lucas to come on in the 86th and do one of these on the edge of the box. pic.twitter.com/h9xX2WTsEa
