Liverpool’s policy of promoting players and giving them contracts continues with news coming in that Liam Coyle has signed his first professional contract with the club.
The Liverpool Echo have reported that the 17-year-old has been impressive for Neil Critchley’s U18 side this season and he has even captained the side in this campaign. The armband was provided to him when regular captain for the U18 side, Conor Masterson was promoted to the U23 squad.
The youngster plays mostly in midfield and his starring performances for the side was even part of a special delegation that was in the stadium during the recently held Merseyside derby.
The 17-year-old played the entire game against West Ham’s U18s at Kirkby on Friday as he looks to continue his development with the Merseyside giants. To give an idea of how highly the scouts and coaches regard Coyle, he has trained with the senior Liverpool squad under Jurgen Klopp.

As stated earlier, this is just one more player that Liverpool seem to be fast tracking to the first team. The Reds have seen players such as Ben Woodburn, Sheyi Ojo and Trent Alexander-Arnold charge through the ranks and become integral to the first team.
Even though Ojo has been injured and is recovering from his issues, Woodburn and Alexander-Arnold now regularly feature on the subs bench and the pair were also part of the team that won in the Merseyside derby 3-1.
Coyle, who was born in Derby, was expectedly ecstatic with signing his new contract but the real hard work begins now as he looks to make it to the U23 side which is just below the first team squad.
The Reds have a number of other players in their midfield such as Marko Grujic, Cameron Brannagan and Kevin Stewart that will look to battle Coyle for a place in the first team squad. Coyle does have a bright future ahead but he has to keep working hard to continue his progression.
