Liverpool are reportedly ready to offer £21m for Benfica star Anderson Talisca. The Reds are ready to activate the player’s release clause by offering the sum, according to Turkish newspaper, Takvim. Talisca has a £21m release clause and it was revealed by Besiktas president Fikret Orman.
Talisca currently plays for Besiktas on loan from Benfica, having joined the Turkish side for the 2016-17 season. He has since played 25 games and has scored 10 goals and has provided 5 assists. He has proved to be a valuable addition for Besiktas with his immense contribution on the pitch. Orman was quoted as saying:
“He is a great kid and the fans love him but we will not be able to activate his €25 million [£21 million] release clause.”
However, Liverpool could face competition from Manchester United as well, who are believed to be interested in signing the player. Also, the report suggested that Liverpool were close to signing the player previously but work permit issues stopped the move from happening.
Now that they have revived their interest in the player, it is possible that there could be a transfer war between the two English giants for the signature of the Brazilian attacker.
His experience of playing in the Champions League will come in handy for the Reds as they are well positioned to command a top-4 finish come the end of the season.
His time with Benfica was an extremely productive one for him as a player, as he contributed with 20 goals for the club in the 78 appearances he made.
A youth product of Brazilian club Bahia, Talisca moved to Benfica in the summer of 2014 and hasn’t looked back at all. He is highly rated and he did well after moving to Europe, as he adjusted to the surroundings quite quickly. He surely would be a great addition for Liverpool, who would do well to bring in a quality player like Anderson Talisca into the team.
A transfer tug of war with Manchester United? Well, bring it on!
