Deal Close – Liverpool Free To Sign Czech Republic Goalkeeper From Slavia Prague

Liverpool are reportedly closing in on the signing of teenage Czech Republic goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros, according to the Daily Mail.

It is well known now that Liverpool have been hit with a transfer ban on signing academy players but the ban applies to the club to not sign from Premier League academies and not from abroad. Hence, this seems to be a smart move from Liverpool to take advantage of the conditions in the current transfer ban that is being faced by them.

The Reds were hit with a ban after they allegedly broke the FA rules by offering to take up the responsibility of a 12-year old Stoke boy’s education. The FA prohibits the clubs from doing that and when Liverpool found it out, they retracted from the offer they made to the boy. This left the 12-year old in a limbo and when the Premier League probed into the matter, Liverpool were found guilty and hence were hit with a 2-year ban.

Now, the Reds seem to be doing some clever work in the transfer market, with them eyeing a move for the 15-year old Vitezslav Jaros.

The goalkeeper, who plays for Slavia Prague Under 19s, had trials at Liverpool back in September and returned for another spell recently to convince club coaches he is worth a deal.

On the other hand, it is also being said that Liverpool also offered a trial for 14-year old goalkeeper Jakub Ojrzynski last weekend. Ojrzynski plays for Legia Warsaw and had a training stint with Manchester United in February and was a guest of the club for their match against Watford at Old Trafford.

It is interesting to see the club trying to sign young goalkeepers for their academy. It looks like the coaches are working out some clear plans to solve their goalkeeping woes at grass root levels. Liverpool’s struggle in the goalkeeping department in the senior division is well known and it seems like the Reds are looking to strengthen their future by signing teenagers from abroad.
