Liverpool have been alerted by the possibility of Serge Aurier being available in the summer transfer window.
French publication le10sport claims that Aurier has grown frustrated with the constant criticism he has received despite his good performances and wants to leave the Parisian club at the end of the season.
The Paris St Germain defender has been a stable performer for Unai Emery’s team in the French Ligue 1. Even though the campaign has turned out into a major disappointment following the Champions League exit and the domestic struggles, Aurier has been one of the few players to catch the eye of clubs from across European football. Manchester City, Liverpool Barcelona and AC Milan are thought to be interested in his services.
Manchester City are widely expected to let Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna leave the club in the summer. This would leave the club significantly short of options in this position and they are expected to spend heavily in order to revamp the ageing defence.
Liverpool, on the other hand, have a well set right-back in Nathaniel Clyne. And manager Jurgen Klopp is very keen on bringing in a left back in order to see James Milner back in the midfield position.
Yet, they may be going full-fledged in their chase for Aurier, a right-back, as it is learnt that the 24-year-old is not entirely happy with life in the French capital. He moved to the club in the summer of 2015 from Toulouse. Even though he cost the club only €10 million, he has been quite good.
This season, he has featured in 19 league games as Unai Emery has failed to grasp the team in his first season at the club. The disappointing campaign is likely to see the former Sevilla manager replaced in the summer. Another managerial change would be catastrophic for Serge Aurier’s progress as a player. Hence, he is believed to be on the lookout for a club which will be able to provide him with settled first-team football. He has a contract with PSG until the summer of 2019.
Should Liverpool move for Aurier in the summer?
