Liverpool have been linked with a number of defenders for next season and one such player is Michael Keane. The Burnley defender has been one of their best players in this current campaign and it should come as no surprise that the 24-year-old has been on the radars of a number of clubs.

The English defender is a reported target for Liverpool too and Sky Sources now claim that the central defender is a sure shot to leave the club this season and Liverpool are interested in the defender.

Keane has played in 33 Premier League games this season and has also scored a couple of goals. More than his return in front of the opposition goal, it is his ability to keep opponents out that has won the Englishman plaudits.

While Liverpool already have the likes of Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren as a first-choice pairing, the pair have been hit with injuries throughout the season. Even now, Matip is injured and is a major doubt for the visit of Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Keane has also been linked with moves to Everton, Chelsea and Manchester City, and it would not be a doubt that a bidding war will ensue to sign the player up at the start of the next transfer window.

Liverpool do need quality defenders and the £30 million-rated player would be a decent signing for the Merseyside club. Keane has been a star in the Premier League this season and it is a natural progression if he does move to a bigger club in the summer.

He did spend four years at Manchester United and moved when he couldn’t become a regular at the club. This could be his second chance at playing for a top level team.

Jurgen Klopp wouldn’t mind spending the big bucks on a player that he wants. The German, however, seems to be interested in Virgil van Dijk more than Keane but the Englishman could be a decent enough signing if Klopp can’t get Van Dijk.
