Andrew Robertson

Liverpool are set to make Andrew Robertson one of their first signings next season according to the Daily Mail.

The report claims that the Merseyside club are closing in on the Hull City defender and are willing to spend around £8 million for the 23-year-old. Robertson has become one of the main players for the Tigers as they look to avoid relegation under Marco Silva.

The Scottish player has notched up 29 Premier League appearances for the side and has a goal and a couple of assists to his name too. Robertson isn’t just known to be a left-back but can also play further up the field as a winger, something that Jurgen Klopp could use next season.

The Reds have used James Milner as a left-back this season but the Englishman cannot be seen as the first-choice for next season as well, even though he has done a great job in an unfamiliar role.

Alberto Moreno’s future doesn’t look all that great at Anfield and the former Sevilla man could be one of the few players that will leave the club in the summer.

Klopp will have to work on his side and add more talent as the Reds look towards European competition next season and those extra games will have an effect on the team.

Liverpool have been greatly hurt when their first team players have picked up injuries and the lack of a quality left-back will certainly not be acceptable to the fans next season. The injuries did derail their hopes for a Premier League title and that is something that Jurgen Klopp had spoken about earlier as well.

Robertson is a decent player to have, especially thanks to his Premier League experience but Liverpool need more quality and that will not be provided by the 23-year-old.

However, Klopp does have a great record when it comes to signing players and if he can turn things around with Robertson in the side, no one will complain. We will have to wait and see how this pans out but the Reds should be looking at better players than the Hull defender if they seriously want to build a team for a proper title push.
