The hunt for a left-back seems to be happening in full flow as Liverpool continue to get linked with various left-backs from around the country and around the world.

The Reds have been linked with moves for players like Ryan Sessegnon of Fulham and Andrew Robertson of Hull City and now, the latest left-back to be linked with a move to Anfield is AC Milan’s Mattia De Sciglio.

De Sciglio is a product of the Milan youth academy and has been with the club since the age of 10. He is now 24 and is well settled in AC Milan, but his contract is set to expire in the summer of 2018. With just over a year left on his contract and with the player yet to sign a new deal with AC Milan, Liverpool have seemingly planned to make a move for the versatile full-back.

Though De Sciglio is primarily a right-footed player, he is capable of playing on either flank and this must serve as a huge boost to any team that he may join. It is really a big added advantage when a player is versatile as it usually gives the manager an extra option to play with.

Klopp has managed with deploying Milner at the left-back position and luckily, it has worked well as Milner has been solid at the back. But it cannot be considered as a long-term solution and it is now unavoidable for Jurgen Klopp to dip into the transfer market to sign a left-back.

De Sciglio, though he is right-footed, is capable of playing as a left-back with equal ease and has featured 22 times as a left-back for Milan this season, and a total of 131 appearances for club and country.

This would be a shrewd buy if Liverpool manage to pull it off as De Sciglio is very highly rated. With his contract running down quickly, this could turn out to be a great piece of business for the Reds.

Do you think Liverpool should sign De Sciglio in the summer?
