Liverpool have been linked with moves for several Bundesliga players but one seems to have become the number one priority for the summer. Naby Keita, who plays for high flying RB Leipzig, has been one of the best midfielders this season for the German side and now it seems he is open for a move away from the club.
The 22-year-old defensive midfielder is seen in the same vein as N’Golo Kante and has helped the German side climb up to second in the Bundesliga behind Bayern Munich.
The Liverpool Echo quoted the defensive midfielder as he was speaking to the Bild about his future at Leipzig.
“I’m very comfortable at Leipzig. There are still three games to go, that’s what I’m concentrating on. My agent takes care of everything else. When it’s time, I’ll discuss it with him and my family.”
The Guinea midfielder has been a rock for the surprise package of this season’s Bundesliga and with Lucas Leiva, one of the many players who could be leaving the Reds; Keita would certainly be an upgrade over the Brazilian.
The Leipzig man is known not only for his great ball control but he can pass the ball really well but his greatest asset is his ability to tackle and break up attacks.
Jurgen Klopp has been looking to add some steel into his Liverpool side and not one player has actually been able to take up the mantle of being the destroyer in midfield.
Jordan Henderson did do a pretty good job at the start of the season but injuries have affected the Liverpool captain while Emre Can has played as a deep lying midfielder, though he has also played higher up the pitch to help out the attack.
Liverpool could sway the midfielder’s decision to leave Leipzig should they make it to the Champions League and with only three games remaining in the season; the Reds know qualifying for the competition is in their hands.
