The worst nightmare for every Liverpool fan is set to take place according to reports from the Spanish media. Philippe Coutinho, who has been rumoured to join Barcelona in the summer, has finally decided to put pen to paper with the Catalan giants according to Spanish paper Sport.

The Liverpool Echo carries a report that claims that it is Coutinho that wants a move away from the Merseyside club and wants to play for the current La Liga champions.

Coutinho had recently signed a new deal with the Reds and has been one of their best players in recent years. However, the lack of silverware and Champions League football certainly is a big factor if he is to move away.

The 24-year-old Brazilian isn’t the first Liverpool player to have made the jump to the Spanish club as we all remember how Luis Suarez left and has enjoyed an incredible spell winning league championships and the UEFA Champions League as well.

Sport also carried a headline claiming that Barcelona would have to fork out close to €90 million for the Brazilian. The figure being touted is even higher than the amount paid for Suarez, something that Barcelona will have to think about.

Coutinho also would be linking up with Neymar at Barcelona. The duo have struck up a close-knit friendship while playing for the various Brazil youth teams and now with the national team. That is one reason why many believe the deal will take place sooner rather than later.

While Coutinho hasn’t played at his best in the second half of the season, he would still be a big miss should be he sold by the Reds. Barca have claimed that Coutinho would get regular football at the club and with Andres Iniesta not getting any younger, that could be a decisive factor for the Brazilian to fashion a move away.
