Liverpool are still interested in signing Barcelona’s Rafinha according to Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo (h/t calciomercato.com) and the player too wants a move away from the La Liga side in the summer.
Rafinha has played in 26 games for the La Liga side this season but hasn’t been a regular starter. The 24-year-old is looking for more regular football and with chances looking bleak at the Catalan club, he could be available in the summer.
The report claims that Rafinha is looking to move away from the La Liga club as he looks to gain a place in the national side ahead of the 2018 World Cup. Coincidently, Philippe Coutinho, the Liverpool attacker has been linked with a move to Barcelona and Rafinha was one of the players that Barcelona are willing to put up as a cash plus player deal in the summer, according to reports from Don Balon.
It isn’t just the Merseyside club that want to sign Rafinha up, the report also claims that Juventus and Arsenal are interested in his services. The 24-year-old can play in the middle of the pitch or out wide and is known for his work rate and defensive output.
Liverpool do need to have more cover in midfield ahead of next season. we are certain of letting Lucas Leiva go and with Jordan Henderson suffering from a number of injuries, the need for a quality midfielder is extremely important for the Reds.
The Kop Times Verdict
Rafinha is contracted with Barcelona until June 2020 and has a €75m buyout clause. Although he isn’t the best player in that team, the Brazilian does have the potential to get better. Jurgen Klopp does know how to get the best out of his players and the Barcelona man might be tempted to make a switch to Anfield with the lure of Champions League football.
Just how interested Liverpool are in the Brazilian isn’t known but Klopp has to build a squad for next season and Rafinha could be a decent option to have in the side.
