Marko Grujic

Finally some good news! After a lot of transfer speculation in the media regarding Liverpool players arriving and leaving the club, it looks like there’s now one player who is sure to stay at the club after all. Marko Grujic is set to stay at Liverpool after his agent explained the plans that Klopp has for the youngster.

Grujic joined Liverpool in the 2016 winter transfer window and has since made only 8 appearances for the Reds. He has struggled with his injury problems but it now looks like Jurgen Klopp has assured the player of a role in his future plans, which the player’s agent Zoran Stojadinovic revealed.

He was quoted by Hotsport:

“There is mutual trust, Klopp values Grujic and expects him to be part of the team next season. Grujic’s hard work in training and fine performances show plenty of promise, while his playing time would have been more significant hadn’t it been for the injuries.

In the end, everyone is clear in their intentions to continue together next season. Liverpool are a great club and such a high professional level requires great effort as the road to the top is not easy. However, Marko is well-positioned here and his ‘five minutes’ will come. I have no doubt.”

He also said that a lot of teams were interested in taking the midfielder on loan and admitted that Spanish outfit Real Betis were one of the teams. But Stojadinovic insisted that the player would stay put. He added:

“Many teams want Grujic, although Liverpool swiftly rejected an approach from Betis. There are certain principles, which are quite clear, when it comes to young players and their involvement on the biggest stage.”

The 21-year-old has now returned from his injury in the closing stages of the season, making the matchday squad in Liverpool’s last 8 games. However, he is unlikely to make any appearances this season. Hopefully, it won’t be long before he does so.

With Liverpool competing on four fronts next season, there will be more opportunity for Grujic to impress, and Klopp clearly seems eager to utilise him.

Do you think Grujic will make it big at Liverpool?
