With the Champions League qualifier awaiting us, it is no surprise that spirits are high at the club. Jurgen Klopp did achieve the bare minimum but it could have been all sweeter had we not capitulated in the second half of the season.

There are grand plans for strengthening the side according to Klopp and now even Adam Lallana has added that there will be big names turning up for us next season.

Speaking to BBC Sport, the former Southampton man said:

“Does Champions League qualification mean new players? I think it does. I said in the week that we’re going to attract big players this summer, especially with having Jürgen Klopp as our manager. The new stand – the atmosphere is great. And on top of that with Champions League football, I think we’ll see a few big faces coming in.”

While Lallana had a decent enough season, the lack of quality players and strength in depth really hurt us big time. The months of January and February really hurt us in our Premier League quest and our home form in the final third of the season was poor too.

Sadio Mane’s injury put a stop to any title aspirations we had and with European football on the horizon as well, it is imperative we don’t cop out in the transfer window coming up.

The worst transfer window took place right after the Luis Suarez sale and Klopp has to ensure FSG pay up and bring in the players that he wants. The right recruitment can be the difference between a mediocre season and a great one and the board should have confidence in the German’s plans.

Klopp has a lot of work ahead of the season but things seem to be heading in the right direction. Is this the start of another revolution or is it another false dawn? Only time will be the judge of that.

Which players do you think we’ll sign in the summer?
