Liverpool already have made a new signing even before the start of next season but before you can go out and celebrate thinking a new striker or midfielder has joined, we’d like you to know we have actually signed a new physiotherapist joining from the Bundesliga.

Jurgen Klopp’s backroom staff has a lot of Bundesliga experience and now the German has raided his former club Mainz for 38-year old Christopher Rohrbeck, who he worked with during his 7 years at the club.

Rohrbeck had spent 14 years at Mainz but now will have to deal with the challenge of working in the Premier League.

The Liverpool Echo quoted the Mainz Sporting Director Rouven Schroder as saying:

“Christopher Rohrbeck has worked for us in a reliable fashion on a high level for many years and was now presented with a chance to switch jobs. Even though for us this means losing one of our long-time employees, we wanted to grant Christopher and his family their wish to take on a fresh challenge in Liverpool. We thank him for his services and wish him and his family all the best for their future.”

While there isn’t a lot to celebrate with this signing as it doesn’t add to the playing XI, we do need as many hands as possible when it comes to treating players.

Adam Lallana, Jordan Henderson, Philippe Coutinho and ‘Daniel Sturridge’ all missed chunks of last season with injuries and the need to get the physio team at its best can be the difference between a few games out and a few months out.

Even the likes of Dejan Lovren, Joel Mati, and Roberto Firmino have missed games due to niggling injuries throughout last season and hopefully, with Rohrbeck on board, we can skip those injuries next season.

A fit first team can actually continue the challenge for silverware way beyond January, where we massively stuttered last time around.
