The boys headed off for a friendly in Australia, where the current Liverpool stars and the former Liverpool stars combined to beat Sydney FC 3-0. It was a joy to watch the likes of Gerrard and Agger on the pitch and the fact that Daniel Sturridge looked in good touch was a positive to take from the game.
First-half goals from Daniel Sturridge, Alberto Moreno and Roberto Firmino earned Klopp’s team a comfortable victory in front of around 73,000 fans Down Under on Wednesday.
The win marked the end to a good season as we have already qualified for the Champions League. The post-season friendly seemed necessary to probably ease off after what was an intense season overall. Klopp will be satisfied with the way the team finished the season and the focus will now turn to 2017/18 campaign.
The club’s official Twitter account tweeted after the game and praised the lads for their efforts. The fans as active as they always are on social media, expressed themselves and a lot of them only seemed to be worried about how the team will perform next season and came up with some interesting suggestions like, “Re-sign Gerrard and Agger” (would be nice to have them though) and we managed to gather some interesting tweets and put them together to make a reading.
Here’s what Liverpool’s official Twitter handle came up with,
