Liverpool clinched a 4th place finish on the final day of the Premier League season despite a 10-man Arsenal’s victory over our rather incapable rivals. Goals from Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana and Georginio Wijnaldum sealed a comfortable victory for us and that was enough to go through to the Champions League qualifiers.

Jurgen Klopp is expected to seriously bolster his squad ahead of a return to Europe’s premier club competition and Gerrard has no doubt that elite players will jump at the chance to work with the German coach.

The Liverpool legend was speaking after playing for the Reds in a post-season friendly win over Sydney FC in Australia.

Gerrard was quoted by the Liverpool ECHO as saying;

“I was looking around and it was a strange feeling out there. I was thinking if Jurgen Klopp had been at the club a bit earlier what might have been. There’s no doubt about it, if he had been here three or four years I believe I would have been part of him delivering big trophies for this club. It’s his aura and the way he is with you – how he makes you feel.”

“I went out there to play in a friendly and I felt like it was the World Cup final. That’s what he gives players. We’re blessed to have him and hopefully we can go from strength to strength over the summer. Everyone is excited.”

Stevie G feels that the top players would now jump at the prospect of joining Liverpool and heaped praise on Klopp saying he motivates the players so very well, and that we are lucky to have him as our manager.

He added: “If I’m a top player around Europe and Jurgen picks the phone up and I get offered the chance to play for this club, which is moving forward in every single department and has a world class manager leading it, I’d be jumping at that opportunity. I want to play for him and I am 37 next week!”

“For me, it’s such an exciting project. Not just because we qualified for the Champions League but the whole project. The next three, four, five, six years, whatever it turns out to be, are going to be very exciting and players will want to be a part of what Jurgen is doing.”

Stevie certainly is right. The club is in great shape and the project seems exciting enough for players to consider joining us. Klopp is a reputed coach and that will act as an advantage when we try to sign young stars. Hopefully, it is going to be an exciting summer.
