Roma have downplayed rumours that former Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah may be set for a move to Liverpool. We have been showing a lot of interest in Salah, who was a flop at Chelsea, but it seems that the transfer is far from being concluded. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has reportedly (Independent) made Salah one of his top transfer targets after watching the Egyptian winger excellent in the Italian Serie A over the last two seasons. He may have failed to make an impact at Chelsea, but it is largely due to the lack of chances.

Salah joined Roma on a permanent deal only last summer. It has been reported that the Italian club are demanding around £35million for the player. Liverpool may not be thinking twice about paying this figure for a player who has averaged a goal every alternate game, even while playing as a winger. Last season, Salah made 31 appearances in the league. In these games, he managed to come up with a whopping return of 15 goals and 13 assists. It almost helped Roma win the Italian Serie A by breaking the dominance of Juventus.

Roma are aware that the player only has two years left on his contract. Hence, it is heavily rumoured that they would consider selling the player at £35million.

Angered by the large number of players being linked with a move to Liverpool, Roma chairman James Pallotta said that a deal is not even close. He told Sirius XM Radio (h/t Metro)

“They continue to make offers for many of our players. If this is the case, three or four of our best players could leave. We will see, but to improve we need four or five reinforcements because we are in the Champions League. Is Salah going to Liverpool? With these questions, you remind me of the Roman journalists… For now there is nothing.”

Liverpool are in the market to strengthen their squad after making a return to Champions League. However, the club are also finding it difficult to conclude the big transfers. Salah would represent a great addition to the squad.

Liverpool have received a major boost with regard to the finances after witnessing a several-fold rise in the Premier League TV money for the 2016-17 season. This is likely to help the Reds strengthen the squad in different areas of the pitch.

Do you think we will sign Salah this summer?
