Liverpool have received a major boost with regard to the summer transfer plans, as it has been reported that key transfer target Mohamed Salah’s agent is in London in order to complete a move to Liverpool. The Egyptian winger’s agent Ramy Abbas recently posted a picture of himself driving in English soil. According to Mirror, Mohamed Salah could finalise a move to Liverpool in the next few days after his agent was spotted in London.
Liverpool have been keen on signing the player from Roma, but the Italian club are not ready to sell him unless they receive a big offer. The 25-year-old was signed from Chelsea on a permanent basis only last summer.
However, Roma have been able to enjoy immense performances from the speedy winger. Salah scored 15 goals and 13 assists in the 31 league matches last season. Manager Jurgen Klopp has made signing of the Egyptian winger as his main priority, as the club are keen on strengthening the squad across various positions.
Liverpool possess one of the most potent forward line-ups in the Premier League with Philippe Coutinho, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino in the side. Now, he sees that Liverpool are up against a much bigger task in the 2017-18 season due to the presence of Champions League games. Hence, signing a top-quality attacker in the form of Salah will boost the club’s top four credentials – or even the league title push – next season.
There has been some criticism about Liverpool’s chase for a player who did not perform well in the Premier League during his time at Chelsea. Yet, Klopp would have closely watched Salah to know that the 25-year-old was not given much opportunities at Stamford Bridge. Since moving to Italian football – initially on a loan deal with Fiorentina, he has blossomed into one of the finest wingers. Salah performed exceptionally well during his time at FC Basel in order to earn the move to Chelsea. Now, he may have a second stint at the top level with a move to Liverpool.
Even though Roma will be able to offer Champions League football, the chance to play for a five-time European champion does not come around often. Roma’s fight to keep Salah is certainly weakened since the player only has two years left on his contract.
