Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho’s future may become clear in the next couple of weeks, as manager Jurgen Klopp is ready to sell the player. The French defender was one of the top performers in Klopp’s first few months at the club. However, a fallout with the German during the pre-season tour of 2016 resulted in Sakho being frozen out of the first-team.

After spending the first half of the 2016-17 season on the periphery of the club, he was allowed to join Crystal Palace on a loan deal. This turned out to be an excellent move for the player, as he was instrumental in keeping the club in the Premier League.

It has led to calls for Sakho’s re-inclusion into the Liverpool first-team. Manager Jurgen Klopp has so far been silent about the issue, and it suggested that the player may not have a future at Anfield. It appears to be the case, as Sakho will be one of the three players who will be allowed to leave the club, according to The Times (h/t Belfast Telegraph).

Alberto Moreno, Lazar Markovic, and Sakho are the three players heading down the exit door at Anfield. There were rumours that Liverpool would allow these players to leave only after signing replacements or even strengthening the squad. Now, it appears that wouldn’t be the case, as these three players may not be part of the pre-season tour that will begin later.

Sakho is likely to find a club from the Premier League, given the way that he performed for Crystal Palace. However, it remains to be seen if Liverpool will be ready to send the player to a fellow Premier League club when the option of selling him to France also exists. Sakho came from Paris St Germain in the summer of 2013. Even though he did struggle for some consistency at the start of his Liverpool career, Sakho quickly became one of the indispensable part of the back four. However, the defender was always susceptible to the odd mistake or two.

He has a contract until 2020 and we’d able to get some good money by selling him off.
