The 18-year old is the hottest property in world football at the moment and is currently the most sought-after prospect in the transfer market. The interest in Mbappe has been reaching far and he could leave Monaco for a world record fee, with Real Madrid said to be one of the favourites to secure his signature.

Mbappe scored 24 goals last season, as Monaco won Ligue1 and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League. He also became the first player to score in his first 4 European knock-out games. It was a sensational breakthrough season for the Frenchman.

This week, Liverpool joined the race to sign the young man (Daily Telegraph). Reports claimed that they are willing to offer a huge fee to land him.

Manchester United have also been talked about, as a side ready to put their hand forward (Manchester Evening News). It is rumoured that it may take more than €100m to prize Mbappe away from France. Monaco know that they have the chance to bring in some real cash for their asset.

Mbappe is known for his level-headedness and seems to be taking all the craziness in his stride. He updated his Twitter page today with a post mocking the clubs queuing up to sign him. The tweet featured the player running past an advertising hoarding, with the word “Priceless” emblazoned on it.

The cheeky post has caused a stir on social media, as Mbappe teased supporters of most big clubs across Europe.

The Kop Times Verdict

Real Madrid are the long-standing favourites to sign the Monaco man. When they target a player, they generally get them and they have made their interest in Mbappe known. So much so, that Spanish media outlet Marca (a propaganda machine for Real), is playing games.

The only conceivable reason, why he may join another club, is the competition for places at Madrid. There have been many young players who have made the move to the Santiago Bernabeu and struggled to acclimatise. Playing for Los Blancos provides the greatest pressure you endure as a player.

Although, as today’s Tweet proves, he is certainly a confident boy. So, he may thrive in such an environment.
