Luis Suarez could possibly be the best foreign import we have had in the Premier League era. The Uruguayan was a treat to watch and scored 82 goals in just 133 games for us.
Controversial he certainly was but he has proved his mettle ever since he joined Barcelona and won trophies galore. The 30-year-old became a fan favourite right after the first season but he couldn’t actually believe he was playing for us.
While speaking to the official website of the club, Suarez said:
“When I was little, Liverpool was one of the biggest clubs in Europe and was renowned throughout the world.
“So when I found out about the club’s interest in me I was never in doubt because it’s the dream for any player.
“I never imagined that I would get the chance to play there.”
It would have been a completely different story as Spurs were close to signing the former Ajax man and who knows what would have happened then. The Uruguayan also spoke about how special the fans were at Anfield and that got a number of great responses on Twitter for the mercurial striker.
“At Anfield, the fans get right behind you come what may.
“The affection that they show to you is just so special, which in turn makes you lift up your head and respond, rather than letting it drop a little.
“For me, this is just what the Liverpool fans have.”
