Liverpool Hold Talks With Serie A Club To Complete Three Deals

Liverpool are reportedly in talks with Serie A side Lazio over deals for two of their players, according to Il Messaggero, an Italian outlet.

Not only are we in for Stefan de Vrij and Wallace from Lazio, but Lucas Leiva could also be moving to the Eagles at the end of the transfer window. The report claims that Lucas would be moving to the Italian side for free and is not going to be offered a new contract by Jurgen Klopp.

While that deal was being done for Lucas, we seem to have contacted Lazio about the availability of De Vrij and Wallace, as we do require defensive options ahead of the new season.

De Vrij has been linked with us for a few weeks but that interest seemed to have cooled down after the Virgil van Dijk deal was back on track. However, the defender has been a hit in the Serie A and we are just one of the number of English clubs looking to bring him to the Premier League.

The Dutchman would cost a lot less than Van Dijk and could turn out to be a decent option for us should we not be able to sign the Southampton man.

Wallace is a new player linked with us and the Brazilian central defender played 30 games for the Serie A side as they finished 5th in the league after an impressive campaign. The move for the Brazilian does seem out of place as De Vrij would be a better signing given his experience and ability.

No Home For Lucas At Anfield

This does seem to be the final nail in the coffin for the Brazilian midfielder at the club and it was a bit surprising to see him play in the friendly against Tranmere recently. Lucas was used more as a central defender last season and with a plethora of midfield options at the club already, the former Gremio man would not be played in that position this season too.

Lucas was linked with a move away from Anfield at the start of last season too but he stuck around with us due to Klopp’s insistence. Now the time is right for the Brazilian to bid farewell to Liverpool after 10 long years.
