[Tuttosport] Liverpool Star Agrees Personal Terms With Champions League Finalist, €30-35m Bid Expected

In what could be a massive blow for Liverpool ahead of an important Premier League campaign, Italian news outlet Tuttosport has claimed that Emre Can has agreed a deal to move to Juventus. It further quotes that while the German international has agreed to the personal terms with the Turin-based club, the clubs are yet to reach a mutual agreement.

Juventus will lodge an offer of around €30-35 million for the former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder (Tuttosport via Turkish Football), who moved to Liverpool back in 2014 for a mere fee of £9.75million (Guardian). Expect an official bid this week.

Can is under contract with Liverpool until 2018 and while some sources claimed that he was ready to pen down a new deal, some quoted that he would refuse the offer in order to move to Italy. Liverpool, on their part, are confident that he will stay put and Klopp, while speaking to the Liverpool Echo

, seemed confident enough about Can’s future at Anfield.

“You can imagine we’re involved in talks and we all feel good and confident in this moment,” he said.

“That means they’re not the worst talks but until anything is done or signed there’s nothing to say. Emre is a very important player for us. We don’t want to sell or lose players who are in our first line up or close to it. Emre is certainly one of them. We want to keep him and we’re having good talks.”

Liverpool have done clever business this time around, bringing in Dominic Solanke from Chelsea and Mohamed Salah for a club record fee of £36.9 million. Given the fact that Liverpool have the Champions League to play for, the duo will be of great use. With this being the attacking reinforcement, Klopp has strengthened the left-back position as well, bringing in Andrew Robertson from Hull City for just £10million.

Can was the part of Germany’s 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup winning squad and has just returned to training. Hence, it is the perfect time for Liverpool and the 23-year-old to discuss his next move. However, even if they agree to let him go, Juventus’ bid of €30-35 million surely won’t be enough in this highly inflated market. Liverpool should be demanding more, for sure.
