It is fascinating and frustrating in equal measure to follow transfer news and how media drum up stories. The latest one I am reading is about Philippe Coutinho.
No words are enough to say how important he is, to our team. Jurgen Klopp has, on many occasions indicated how Coutinho is one of the first names on his team sheet.
The Brazilian playmaker is suddenly in the middle of all the attention, with news from Spain, that Barcelona are ready to make an expensive bid. Worse still, they are ready to spice it up and say that the player is asking for an exit.
How True Is This?
As reported by El Confidencial’s Kike Marin, the player will not be sold under any circumstances this summer. It is reported that Klopp had a one-on-one with Coutinho to indicate that he has no intentions of selling him – not to Barcelona, not to any team!

The best news was that Coutinho’s response was positive to all of this and that he is happy to stay at Anfield. Anfield is one of the greatest places in the history of English football – just ask Klopp what attracted him to our club. Coutinho has been our best player for the last couple of seasons and has got enough love from the supporters.
With Champions League set to return this year, I am sure Coutinho would love to experience the electric atmosphere of Anfield on a Wednesday night. Anyone who saw Liverpool’s last pre-season match would have vouched for Coutinho’s magic.
He is still young and at 25-years of age, he has his best years ahead of him. Unlike Luis Suarez transfer to Barcelona, Coutinho’s case is much different as we have the right template, perfect coach and the prospect of Champions League to retain our best player.
I agree that all this will change if Neymar moves to Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona. That would arm the Spanish giants with the necessary funds to raid Liverpool.
However, I strongly feel that the player has his mind set on spending this season at Anfield. Who knows what’s in store next year but Coutinho is sure to wear the Red shirt this year.
