When it comes to knowledge of German Bundesliga, there are few who can beat Jurgen Klopp. The Liverpool manager’s stint with Mainz and Borussia Dortmund is legendary, making him one of the most familiar names for German sides.
It makes no surprise then, that he is ready to dip into the German market to go for the signing of Werder Bremen striker Max Kruse. As pointed out by The Mirror, Klopp is all set to go head-to head with eternal rivals Everton to the signing of this talented forward.
We are looking to add power to our line-up which will undoubtedly be stretched this season, thanks to our participation in the Champions League and a strong ambition to win the Premier League. The £13 million-rated Kruse will be a perfect addition to our squad.
The 29-year-old was one of the stars of last season in Germany where he scored 15 goals for Bremen apart from assisting 7 times. Interestingly, it was his second stint with the club after joining from Wolfsburg in 2016.
He still has two years on his current deal but the lure of working with countryman Klopp and a chance of working in a foreign league could be an enticing factor.
The Reds are currently using Brazilian Roberto Firmino as a makeshift number 9 – which isn’t making the best use of his abilities as a winger. New signing Dominic Solanke, Divock Origi, and Daniel Sturridge are supposed to be front-runners for the second striker role this season although Kruse is a natural fit for the role and would add greater competition.
His ability to hold the ball, make the other forward come into the play and his physical presence will make him a wonderful asset for Klopp.
It is well known that Everton are also interested in his services. It looks like it is the Merseyside teams that are battling out, although Liverpool have a trump card in the form of Klopp.
It will boil down to the intent shown by the two sides, especially because at £13 million, he could be a steal.
