Borussia Dortmund youngster Christian Pulisic is one of the stars of his generation. One of Europe’s highly-rated attackers, the 18-year-old USA international has already shown his prowess both for his club and the national side. No wonder then that he is on the radar of many clubs.
Liverpool have been credited with the most active interest and the Reds had a bid rejected last summer, for the young forward (Daily Star). Jurgen Klopp remains a fan and there is a long-standing belief that the player would eventually land up at Anfield.
For someone who has recently signed an extension with Dortmund, how does it feel? Pulisic spilled beans on his thoughts while speaking to Sports Bild (h/t Liverpool Echo). Pulisic admits that he is aware of the reported interest from Liverpool, but that is not thinking about a transfer at this stage of his career.
“Yes, I read that too. What more can I say? I concentrate fully on the start of the season.
“I’m very happy in Dortmund. I do not think about a club change. I extended my contract until the beginning of the year until 2020.”
Pulisic was signed in February 2015 by Dortmund, as a 16-year-old, and he has quickly risen through the ranks. By the end of that year, he was on the verge of a senior team call. He has played 54 matches for Dortmund across all competitions and has scored 8 goals so far. His prolific scoring has stayed with him while playing for the national team as well, for whom he has scored 7 times in 16 matches.
Very Tough To Get Him This Year
As Pulisic stated, his main goal for the season is to stay with Dortmund and play more consistently. With constant rumors on the future of their star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Dortmund chiefs believe that Pulisic will be their pivot for many more years to come.
Even the player is calm on his priorities and has signed a long-term contract which ties him to the club until 2020. The Reds went official with their bid last summer and were also mulling over one this year but his transfer looks highly unlikely.
However, Pulisic’s ability matches well with Klopp’s philosophy and any interest in the player should definitely be followed up if there is any sign from Dortmund about coming to the negotiation board.
What do you think? Will this talented attacker join Anfield anytime in the future?
