Julian Draxler’s move to Liverpool could still be on as the player’s agent was actually seen in Liverpool. The Metro reports that Roger Wittman was spotted watching our 4-2 win over Hoffenheim. Draxler’s future at Paris Saint-Germain has been up for huge debate as the club signed Neymar for a world record fee from Barcelona.
The Ligue1 giants are filled to the brim with quality and reports claim that the German is deemed surplus to requirements. While Draxler has not explicitly stated that he would want to move away, Jurgen Klopp had stated that progression into the group stages will help us in signing players in the summer window.
Draxler only moved to PSG at the start of the year and it would be tough for him to remain in the French side as he needs to play consistently to be a part of a talented German side for the upcoming World Cup in Russia.
What could be a bit of a coincidence is that Wittman is also the agent of the star of the 4-2 win over Hoffenheim, Roberto Firmino. Draxler would be a great player for us to have and he could be ours for just £32million. But that could also depend on Philippe Coutinho’s future.
However, with Champions League football guaranteed this season, we could end up signing a lot of quality players before the end of the window.
Currently, the club is not strong enough to survive on all fronts, especially if injuries kick in. Draxler can play in a number of positions and can be that one missing player that we have needed in our attack this season. The German’s move to Anfield was actually scuppered in January due to his wage demands but if we can work on that aspect and bring him over, it would be a marquee signing for us.
The Champions League is a big draw for players and with us playing in the competition again, and with Klopp stating that playing there will get us the stars we need, there is no reason why we cannot complete this deal.
