Liverpool Are Increasingly Confident About Completing £30m Defender Deal Before Deadline Day

Liverpool are becoming increasingly confident that they will find a potential suitor for their £30million rated defender Mamadou Sakho, according to Liverpool Echo.

Sakho, who hasn’t played a single game for the Reds since the turn of the previous Premier League season, is quite rightly expected to be sold before the transfer window slams shut. A lot of Premier League clubs have shown a reported interest in the former PSG defender, but Liverpool’s asking price is proving out to be the stumbling block for all the parties.

To be specific, West Brom have been credited with a strong interest. Toni Pulis is reportedly searching a left-sided central defender and with the potential exit of Jonny Evans looming large, the Baggies might well compromise with Liverpool’s demands.

Besides West Brom, Crystal Palace remain the strongest option for the Frenchman. As per BBC, The Eagles are looking to settle on a price for the defender. Sakho, who rejected a move to Stoke at the beginning of the previous season, spent the second half of the campaign with Palace and established himself as an utter crowd favourite, eventually helping them avoid relegation.

Furthermore, Craig Shakespeare’s Leicester City are interested as well. The Foxes, even after acquiring Harry Mcguire, are looking for another centre-back and have already tried their luck on Jonny Evans. They have already seen their bid get rejected for the Northern Irishman, hence, a move for Sakho can be expected.

Besides all these Premier League sides, Italian journalist Matteo Pedrosi had previously claimed that Inter Milan made a loan offer

for Sakho but Liverpool were reluctant to let him go on a temporary basis as they wanted a permanent solution for the player. Therefore, the Italians pulled themselves out of the deal, thanks to Liverpool’s asking price.

Overall, it is fair to say that Crystal Palace remain the most possible option and Sakho will be welcomed with open arms. The Eagles, under Frank de Boer’s regime, have made a dreadful start to their new Premier League campaign and are yet to win a game. They are looking to strengthen and Sakho would be a great option for them.
