Arsenal have surprisingly re-entered the race to sign Thomas Lemar after it seemed Liverpool were destined to sign the 21-year-old. According to reports from Sky Sports, the Gunners have made a £92million bid for the Monaco star and the negotiations are still on.
What will be a major kick in the gut is that the Gunners are willing to spend more money on getting a player that we have been tracking for a while. There were reports that we had submitted a bid of £74million, however it seems like Arsenal are going to break their transfer record, though Lemar has not signed for the Gunners yet.
Lemar had a stellar season for Monaco last time around and is with the France squad during the international break. There have only been two clubs after him and with today being the last day of the window, things could get interesting for all parties involved.
There are a number of permutations of what could happen at Arsenal and with us but it seems like Lemar coming in would see Alexis Sanchez go out.
While the negotiations will go late into the night, there were a number of Liverpool fans who seem upset with the move by the Gunners and here are some of the best reactions from our fans on Twitter.
HOW STUPID CAN FSG BE? LEMAR WANTS TO JOIN LIVERPOOL THEY’VE BEEN PERSUING HIM FOR THE PAST 48HRS BUT WONT MATCH ARSENAL BID

State of Liverpool if they allow Arsenal to beat them to Lemar while they’re in the Europa league

Have to say, FSG will not look good in the slightest if Liverpool don’t match Arsenal’s £92m for Lemar.
The player wants #LFC.

Lemar wants to go to Liverpool, Monaco want him to go to Arsenal. He’s obviously going to United then.

Liverpool: When you bid £70m for Thomas Lemar and then Arsenal comes in with £90m – £35m of which you handed them… #DeadlineDay pic.twitter.com/9jtzlgIvKQ

Liverpool basically helped Arsenal fund their Lemar bid

Scenes when Arsenal end up signing Lemar which was partly funded by us buying Oxlade-Chamberlain. The most Liverpool thing ever.
