Liverpool can now prepare for their crunch clash against Manchester City on Saturday as the international break finally came to a close.

This gave Jurgen Klopp a chance to work with one of our deadline day signings, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The 24-year-old was a surprise signing from Arsenal and even though there are a few who don’t understand the deal, Klopp does seem happy to have signed the England international.

The Ox had become a bit of a frustrated figure at Arsenal and with Arsene Wenger constantly playing him as a wing-back, the desire to play in midfield saw the Englishman join us instead of Chelsea.

He even snubbed a wage increase at Arsenal and join our dynamic side, which does give you an idea of what kind of a person he is. Maybe he knows that Klopp can get the best out of him and even make him a better player like the German has done with a number of our stars.

There seems to be a lot of mutual respect between the pair and that can only mean good things for us. Ox is still relatively young and can reach his potential in the right environment and Klopp has been able to create an incredible atmosphere at the club.

The Englishman will be used both in central midfield and on the wing as he does have a lot of versatility. The youngster can also play in the defence but it seems like that route will be avoided at least for now.

The player earns £120,000 per week at Liverpool, which is far lower than the £180,000-a-week he would have earned at Arsenal but it seems like a decision that has been taken for the sake of his future and development.

Only time will tell if this decision was a good one or not but for now, he should just put his head down and try to learn as much as he can from our playing style and from Klopp.

It will be a bit of a surprise if we do see him start or even play a few minutes against Manchester City but the season is a long one and there is little doubt in our minds that the Ox will be a huge player for us.
