Harry Kane Tottenham

Liverpool do have one of the most fearsome attacks in the Premier League, with Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino leading the line. However, Phil Thompson says he’d would love to have a rival striker scoring goals for us.

The former Liverpool player was speaking to Sky Sports about which striker he would want to see playing at Anfield and he stated that Harry Kane was the man for the Reds. The legend also added that he rates the 24-year-old Kane higher than Sergio Aguero, Romelu Lukaku and Premier League new boy Alvaro Morata.

“If I could sign one striker for Liverpool then I would probably go for Kane.

“I think his all-round game is slightly better than Aguero, Lukaku and Morata’s. The way he can drop into No 10 and move into the channels on either flank shows better understanding of leading the line than the other contenders.

“If he does fancy playing in front of the Kop then we’d certainly have him!”

Kane might have started this season a little slow, with no goals in August but he has broken his duck in spectacular form with 9 goals in 8 games. The last one was a hat-trick against APOEL Nicosia in the Champions League.

The Englishman has been the most prolific striker in the league for the past two seasons with 25 and 29 goals, which helped him claim back to back Golden Boots.

Kane Is Probably Not Going To Join Liverpool Or Any Other Premier League Side

While Thompson or any other person in their right mind would love to see Kane play for us, this seems highly unlikely given that Tottenham are our direct rivals and we would have to spend a crazy amount to sign him up.

Kane would be perfect for our playing style and his finishing is certainly much better that of Roberto Firmino but the Englishman probably won’t swap the white of Tottenham for any other colour in the Premier League.

There is also the concern that Kane would now be attracting the interest of some of the biggest clubs in the world, with Real Madrid being linked with the Englishman. Spurs do have an issue of not breaking their wage structure for their players and Kane could be lured away by big spending clubs.

All in all, Kane is one of the best in the Premier League, if not the world, and if we manage to have him, defenders all over the country would be in a lot more trouble when they play against us.
