Former Reds Star Claims That This Liverpool Legend Will Manage The Club One Day

Steven Gerrard rejoining the Liverpool setup was always on the cards, even after he left the club to play for the LA Galaxy in the MLS. The Liverpool legend has always been close to the club and its fans, and it was no surprise that he is now coaching the U18 side for us.

Gerrard, who is certainly one of the greatest players to have ever put on the Red of Liverpool, has often been linked with the big job at Anfield and even though Jurgen Klopp is the man of the moment, there have been a number of stars who have claimed that the former captain will be our manager soon.

The latest player to say so is former Red Xabi Alonso. The Spaniard played alongside Gerrard in that epic UEFA Champions League final of 2005 and also the 2006 FA Cup final, both of which we won.

Alonso did leave us to first join Real Madrid and then Bayern Munich, and recently retired from the game. The Spanish star was speaking to Liverpool’s website about Gerrard and his quotes were carried by Sky Sports

.

“I’m following the early steps of his career closely and for sure he has all the attributes to become a big manager and a Liverpool manager one day.

“You can be a great player but being a manager is a different task. For sure, he’s really focused and if he’s able to deliver that message he will be a good one.”

Another Player Turning Out To Be A Great Manager?

There have been many players trying their hand out at management but a number of them haven’t really lived up to their expectations. One player who certainly bucked the trend was Kenny Dalglish as he picked up major honours as a player and then as a manager.

Gerrard was one of the most loyal players ever to have put on the jersey for us and even when Chelsea came calling after the 2005 CL final, he stuck with us and won almost everything in club football, except the Premier League title.

That would have been the perfect send off and he did come pretty close to the league title under Brendan Rodgers. But somethings are not meant to be maybe. It wouldn’t be a major surprise if Gerrard does pick up the title when he comes to manage us and that would certainly be a fairytale moment for us and him.
