Javier Pastore PSG

Paris Saint-Germain have been on fire this season, thanks in particular to the signings of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. The duo was on display in their latest win in Ligue 1, a 6-2 triumph over Bordeaux, and with a plethora of attacking talent, it is no surprise that a number of players are on the fringes of leaving the club.

One such player is Javier Pastore and the former Palermo man hasn’t been able to break into the first team of the Ligue1 side, thanks to the likes of Edinson Cavani, Marco Verratti and even Julian Draxler firing.

Pastore has been linked with Liverpool and Chelsea, according to El Gol Digital (h/t TalkSport). The 28-year-old, who has represented Argentina, would be available for a fee of just £26m in the January window according to the report, which is a huge bargain in the current inflated transfer market.

Liverpool and Chelsea aren’t the only clubs looking to sign Pastore as Serie A big spenders Inter Milan are in the running too, and could bolster their team as they look to chase down not only Juventus, but Napoli as well.

PSG do have to balance their books after spending a world-record amount to sign Neymar from Barcelona in the summer. Mbappe’s loan to the club would turn into a permanent deal next summer, which is also expected to be a mammoth figure that PSG would have to pay.

Pastore? Another Attacker For Our Team?

Frankly, we do not need any more attacking midfielders, well, unless we are willing to ship out either Georginio Wijnaldum or Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian might be the one who could leave the club in the summer and bringing in a player who can get acclimatised to the Premier League in six months might turn out to be a smart move.

We already have Naby Keita coming in next season and there should be a lot of changes in this current Liverpool team unless there is a swift turnaround in our fortunes after a horrible month of September.

In all likelihood, Pastore will end up at another club, possibly return to Italy where he was a star for Palermo before he made his big money switch to PSG. Inter does make for a tantalising proposition for the Argentine and for a cut price deal of £26m, it would be a fantastic purchase for any club.
