Hands up all those fans who feel Mohamed Salah is the signing of the season so far? With due regards to Dominic Solanke, Andrew Robertson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, the Egypt international has been the standout performer among the summer arrivals.

Salah has wasted very little time in endearing himself to the Kop faithful with his performances and attitude – something which has won praise from his manager Jurgen Klopp too. In fact, the German tactician has joked that “Salah required roughly 30 minutes at Watford to settle into his life” at Liverpool.

The winger completed a £36.9m move to Liverpool from AS Roma in the summer transfer window as Klopp wanted to bolster his attacking options ahead of the campaign.

And, the Egypt international did not disappoint, by settling down quickly. That was a surprise for some of the critics because the 24-year-old spent six uneventful months at Chelsea earlier in his career following a £11m move from Basel in 2014.

Salah struggled to make an impression and failed to take his chances before being sent out on loan to Fiorentina and then to Roma. It was only during his loan spells in Italy that Salah brought his career back on track and won plaudits for his performances. That, of course, has won him a move to Anfield.

He has been a revelation this Premier League season, having already scored 4 goals and assisting once in 8 games. Even in the Champions League, he has netted 3 goals in 3 matches, making himself one of the most formidable players in Klopp’s playing XI.

No wonder then that the German tactician has delivered a glowing verdict on the winger after his impressive start to Anfield career over the past few months.

“He has quality, there is no doubt about it,” Klopp told reporters at his pre-Tottenham Hotspur press conference (h/t The Sport Review). “I think he needed half an hour at Watford, around about, and that was it.

Liverpool are in 8th place in the Premier League, having scored just 3 wins in 8 matches ahead of their trip to Wembley to take on Tottenham tonight.

I have no doubt that Salah is the best signing of the summer and he would probably go on to become one of the best players of the club. I’m sticking my neck out, but I hope to be proven right.
