Liverpool kept their place on top of the Champions League group with a routine 3-0 win over Maribor. The Reds had trounced the Slovenian side 7-0 in the reverse fixture a couple of weeks ago but the game was much more tight this time and the Reds needed a second half to get the scoring started.
In a tense atmosphere at Anfield, it was Mohamed Salah who got the first goal thanks to a deft flick after a cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold. Emre Can then played a great one-two with James Milner followed by a tidy finish from outside the box to give us the breathing space in the 64th minute.
The result was put beyond doubts when Daniel Sturridge scored his second goal in five days with a spanking finish late in the second half.
While we should have defeated the away side more comfortably, Milner missed a penalty. Our real test will come as we face Sevilla and Spartak Moscow in our remaining games as we look to qualify for the knockout stages.
There were a number of fans who were happy with the result and the clean sheet at Anfield and here are some of the best reactions from Twitter.
