Mohamed Salah

Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah has caught the attention of everyone with his goal-scoring exploits this season. No wonder then that Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are glancing at Anfield with an eye on the Egypt sensation.

According to Spanish news outlet El Gol Digital, Atletico are reportedly mulling over a bid of around £50m for the striker who has taken the Premier League by storm this year.

He joined Liverpool from AS Roma over the summer and has been in scintillating form ever since. Salah has already scored 12 goals and set up another three for his teammates this season, underlining his growing credentials. Salah has been one of the shining lights for Liverpool this season, who have been struggling defensively. In fact, the absence of Sadio Mane was not felt as Salah kept performing consistently.

His good form has alerted clubs all over the continent and it is being reported that Atletico are interested in signing the winger in the January transfer window.

Interestingly, the Spanish giants will be free to sign players only from the January window after being banned from signing players for transfer violations. The Rojiblancos have already signed Diego Costa from Chelsea but are not in a position to play him until January.

Much of the talk in Madrid is the rumour that Atletico could lose their star forward Antoine Griezmann in the winter window. With Manchester United interested in poaching the player, it could be a matter of time before the Frenchman makes the exit.

And, Atletico seem to believe that Salah is an ideal replacement for Griezmann in terms of effect and goals.

Will Liverpool Budge?

I think it is laughable that reports are able to link clubs with a player who is integral to Jurgen Klopp’s plans. He is too early in his Liverpool career to even contemplate selling him. Even if they want to sell him, the Reds will be infuriated by the £50m fee quoted in the press. For us to even give it a thought, it has to be over £100m.

Even then, it would be a dream for Atletico to sign Salah because Liverpool won’t sell him at any price!
