Predicted Liverpool Line-up To Face Southampton In The Premier League
There is a sense of excitement in the air as Liverpool return to action after the international break. On the back of three consecutive wins, the Reds look set for a run to the top four and will first take on Southampton at Anfield.
The away side should feature Virgil van Dijk, the one player we have been trying to sign for ages. However, we too have a number of players returning to action.
Team news
Last time against West Ham, we played with Sadio Mane in the first XI and there were fears that the Senegalese star had re-injured his hamstring while on international duty.
However, Mane should be fit to take part in the game and we will have Philippe Coutinho back too. Adam Lallana is fit again and is raring to go but he might be on the bench to face the Saints. We might also have captain Jordan Henderson returning against the Saints but with the Champions League clash against Sevilla in midweek, we might see a few changes in the team.
Probable Liverpool XI
Formation: 4-3-3
Manager: Jurgen Klopp
Simon Mignolet – GK
We all know that the Belgian starts our league games and that should not change ahead of the clash against the Saints.
Joe Gomez – RB
Gomez should keep his place as the right-back and will be bubbling with energy given his England cap during the international break.
Joel Matip – CB
The best central defender we have, there is no doubt that Matip will have to be at his best if we are to keep a clean-sheet in this game.
Ragnar Klavan – CB
While many would want Joe Gomez to start as a CB, the Estonian, Klavan, has done pretty well in the last few games and deserves to start.
Alberto Moreno – LB
The former Sevilla man has turned his career around at Liverpool and he should start this match for us.
Jordan Henderson – CM
The captain should return for this game as we need someone to cover the defence and keep passing the ball around.
Emre Can – CM
Can might or might not be a Liverpool player next season but he should start this game alongside Henderson and Wijnaldum in a midfield three.
Georginio Wijnaldum – CM
The Dutch midfielder is one of those players who Klopp loves and should get the start to face the Saints.
Mohamed Salah – RW
The best attacker we have at the moment and we cannot see him not start the game given that we have to keep the pressure on the top four. Salah will look to add to the 2 goals he scored against the Hammers last game.
Roberto Firmino – CF
Firmino cannot be dropped and is a Klopp favourite. So expect him to start the game and harass the opposition defence with his movement and pressing.
Philippe Coutinho – LW
The Brazilian might not have played in the win against the Hammers but he should start on the wing to take on the Saints defence.
