The midweek 7-0 win for Liverpool over Spartak Moscow not just gave a glimpse of the attacking potential at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal. It also threw some questions, especially about the benching of club captain Jordan Henderson. The club captain was an unused substitute on Wednesday as the Reds masterfully booked their place in the last 16 of the Champions League with a superlative victory.
However, there were question marks on the absence of Henderson, although Klopp was quick to dismiss the conspiracy theories and indicate that Hendo would definitely play once Everton are in town for the Merseyside derby.
I think Klopp is spot on with this. I completely agree with him when he says that even a captain needs rest because he is a player first and a captain next. Just like every other outfield player, he needs to be benched once in a while. As Klopp indicated, Henderson is a very important player for us and is in the same mould as Steven Gerrard – although I wouldn’t say he is in that league yet, far from that!
Interestingly, the reactions to his omission were mixed, with some fans indicating that we are better off without him. I cannot fathom how this would be, but it could be just me!
Anyway, we have captured the myriad of reactions on Twitter which should give you a peek into what the fans think of Hendo.
He’s that good we’re better when he’s not on. Funny that

When he is not on, we do better. We need an Alonso player, someone who actually creates chances rather than being captain pathetic.
