Real Madrid are preparing to swoop for Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, in a deal which could see Lucas Vazquez go in the opposite direction, according to reports. According to Spanish publication Don Balon, Zinedine Zidane has identified Salah as his top target. Real’s idea is to take advantage by offering Vazquez as the bargaining chip for the Egyptian attacker.

Salah has been the leading light for Jurgen Klopp’s side since joining from Roma for £36.9 million in the summer. The winger has taken the Premier League by storm, scoring 20 goals for both club and country this season and was rewarded with the BBC African Player of the Year award on Monday.

On the other hand, Vazquez hasn’t hit the form this season he was expected to and Zidane is keen to offload the winger. With Salah’s amazing form, it comes as no surprise that Real president Florentino Perez is looking out for a barter trade which could see Vazquez move to Anfield.

Real are struggling in their La Liga title defence as they sit 4th in the table, 8 points behind Barcelona. Pressure has been growing on Zidane to turn results around quickly and he has already openly admitted he will be looking to bolster the squad in January.

Salah’s blistering form has seen Real sniffing around and are ready to sacrifice their academy graduate Vazquez. Regardless of the Spaniard being two-time Champions League winner, compared to Salah, he is nowhere near to the Liverpool attacker’s quality.

Moreover, Salah has 19 goals for the Reds this season (before tonight’s game), compared to Vazquez’s 3, which demonstrates the difference between the two footballers.

After coming across this piece of rumour, Liverpool fans took to Twitter to dismiss them as ridiculous. Here we present you the best tweets.
