Alex Teixeira

Liverpool have reportedly received a major indication about their long-term target Alex Teixeira. He could be offloaded by his current Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning. According to Tuttosport (h/t Daily Mail), the Brazilian playmaker is surplus to requirements at his club. It is looking highly likely that he would be allowed to move in the near future.

This is not the first time that we are being linked with this Brazilian playmaker. In fact, it was in the summer of 2016 that the Reds were reported to have been thinking of a serious offer. However, nothing happened and the interest died its natural death!

Eventually, Teixeira joined Jiangsu in a £38m move. The move raised eyebrows in European football. Experts were looking at his potential and were worried if he had made the right choice. China is not a place to be for players looking to showcase their talent.

Teixeira failed to settle in China and has failed to replicate the form that he previously displayed during his stint with Shakhtar Donetsk. That has raised questions over his future in China too.

Second Chance For The Reds?

But, should Liverpool go for the signature of the 27-year-old? Liverpool are not short of creative options and it may be tough for the Brazilian to get into the first-team at Liverpool.

However, it is reported that the playmaker is a long-term target of Liverpool and the Reds may be interested in the situation should he be available for a transfer. That means a move in the winter transfer window may not be ruled out.

Will Liverpool get a free run in the chase of this Brazilian playmaker? That may not be the case, even though Liverpool have a head start in the chase. There were reports in the media that even Manchester United were interested in him, although their interest was before he made a move to China.

I wouldn’t mind Jurgen Klopp signing Teixeira because he is a good player with good potential than. However, I want Klopp to look at signing a defender and then look at adding names for other positions.
