Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has surely angered the Liverpool fans and left the eternity in bewilderment by not opting Mohamed Salah in his ‘Team of the Season’ so far.

Salah, bought by Liverpool in the summer from AS Roma, has taken the Premier League by storm with his blistering form that has seen him score 20 goals in all competitions so far this season. The £36.9million the Reds paid to Roma for his services in the summer is looking like a real snip.

The Egypt International, who guided his nation to next year’s World Cup in Russia, is Premier League’s top-scorer and scored last weekend in the 4-0 drubbing of Bournemouth.

What adds more value to Salah is that he is not a traditional centre-forward like Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero or Romelu Lukaku, but a winger playing on the right flank. Above all, the ex-Chelsea player doesn’t take set-pieces and has netted all the goals from open play.

Every other pundit, such as Phil Thompson, Matt Le Tissier and Charlie Nicholas have included the Egyptian, but it’s Merson’s XI which has got people baffled, especially the Kopites.

The ‘Magic Man’ has inexplicably left Salah out of his best XI for the Premier League campaign to date.

Explaining his decision, as reported by Liverpool Echo, Merson said: “My wide players are obvious choices in Sane and Sterling.

“When you look at how much Sterling has improved under Guardiola it is incredible, especially when you compare to how little Theo Walcott has developed at Arsenal from a similar young talent.”

Still, who am I to question Merson’s wisdom?

Fans were quick to take to Twitter to show their disapproval at Merson. Here are the best of tweets.
