Liverpool Dealt With A Bad News Amidst The Joys Of Van Dijk – Key First Team Star Ruled Out Until February

Jordan Henderson

Liverpool have been handed a massive injury blow ahead of the business end of the campaign, as a report from the Daily Mail has claimed that midfielder Jordan Henderson has been ruled out until the start of February due to an injury.

According to the source, the midfielder picked up a hamstring injury in Liverpool’s 3-3 draw against Arsenal. He limped off the field after just 10 minutes and although there were no initial worries, it is now stated that he would not be available for the first month of the new year after missing the Boxing Day clash against Swansea City.

The report claims that Henderson had “damaged the hamstring in his right leg” and following that, he underwent a scan to know the extent of the injury and the results have shown that he has a tear in his muscle and the injury is of the grade two level, which means it will take him at least a month to recover.

The midfielder will miss 6 fixtures for Liverpool which also includes an all-important derby against Everton in the FA Cup third round at Anfield next week and also Manchester City’s trip to Anfield on January 14.

Games That Henderson Is Set To Miss

vs Leicester (home) – December 30

vs Burnley (away) – January 1

vs Everton (home) – January 5 (FAC)

vs Man City (home) – January 14

vs Swansea (away) – January 22

vs Huddersfield (away) – January 30

Jurgen Klopp, on his part, has already confirmed that Henderson will be missing the next two games (against Leicester and Burnley), and has also admitted that Alberto Moreno will be unavailable for these fixtures as well. But when quipped about the duo’s return, the German said that he has no idea.

“Length of time [on their returns], actually I have no idea to be honest – but it won’t be tomorrow. Both are out for the next two games for sure. On December 30 and January 1, they have no chance, then we have to see again,” Klopp told Liverpool’s official website.

Henderson has been picking up a lot of injuries of late – as he had already suffered a broken metatarsal and damaged medial ligaments earlier this year. Manager Jurgen Klopp has reportedly grown frustrated over the issues, mainly due to the fact that the midfielder is now reaching his peak. However, the positive thing remains that he will be available for the Champions League last-16 tie against Porto in February.
