Liverpool find out their fate in the race to sign Serie A star with €80m price tag

Suso

Liverpool have been linked with a swoop for former star Suso in recent days. The Reds are on the lookout for January reinforcements as they aim to fill the void left by Philippe Coutinho’s departure to Barcelona last weekend. A host of players have been tipped to move to Anfield with the Reds now having £142million at their disposal.

But Italian newspaper Tuttosport

claims the club have launched a shock bid to try and bring Suso back to Merseyside from AC Milan. After failing to establish himself at Anfield, the playmaker has developed his game and has matured in Italy to become a pivotal figure for the Serie A giants.

With 7 goals and 9 assists in 27 appearances so far this year, he’s having another influential campaign and the 24-year-old is finally working his magic on a consistent basis, which he failed to do at Anfield. The club has armoured the Spaniard with a brand new contract until 2022, but the market rumours fail to subside.

The terms of that deal made it clear that Milan value the Spanish midfielder highly. Milan insist that they have no intention of letting him leave just six months after offering him a new deal.

It’s fair to say that Milan have warned Liverpool, or any other interested party for that matter, that they have absolutely no intention of selling one of their most prized assets.

“Milan were very clear with Suso in the summer: We’re not selling you even for €80 million,” the club said in a statement on their website in response to a report by Tuttosport that Suso was eyeing a return.

“All the Rossoneri players mentioned today and these days as potential transfer targets are absolutely part of the project, from [Lucas] Biglia to [Nikola] Kalinic and [Manuel] Locatelli.”

The 24-year-old, who made his senior debut for Spain last November, featuring in the 3-3 friendly draw with Russia has been one of Milan’s stars in an otherwise dull campaign so far. There is a chance that he could make their World Cup squad at the end of the season.

It would take a staggering offer from us to tempt Milan into selling, certainly, more than Suso’s current value. After Coutinho’s departure, Jurgen Klopp will be desperate to replace him, be it in the short-term or in a longer one.
