Real Madrid have reportedly launched their first effort towards signing Mohamed Salah from Liverpool at the end of the season. The Los Blancos want Liverpool star Salah to spearhead their attack next season, with a summer overhaul expected to take place at the Bernabeu.

Real are currently enduring a dismal campaign, with forwards Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Isco and Gareth Bale all struggling for form. However, the European champions are confident of luring Salah away from the Reds after club president Florentino Perez met with the player’s agent, according to Spanish news outlet Diario Gol.

Since joining the Reds last summer from AS Roma, Salah has been a revelation under our manager Jurgen Klopp. He has taken the Premier League by storm, having scored 24 goals and 7 assists in 30 games so far this campaign.

With 19 points off the top of the table, the League is almost lost for Zinedine Zidane, while the team’s record this season does not inspire confidence ahead of their Champions League knockout clash against Paris Saint- Germain. The Spanish giants are supposedly keen on adding the Egyptian to their ranks in the summer as they seek a fresh start in response to their stuttering season.

The report adds that Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas Issa held talks with Real president Florentino Perez, giving the club a reason to be confident over agreeing on a deal. The La Liga club are wary that Liverpool may prove to be tricky negotiators.

Real are reportedly willing to pay £60m to £70m for the Egypt international but Liverpool are expected to counter by demanding more for Salah. The asking price could be more than what Liverpool demanded for Philippe Coutinho, who was sold to Barcelona for a hefty price of £142m.

Interest in Salah, if true, would come as no surprise to the Reds, given the stunning form that has seen him thrive upon his return to England. Spanish journalist Edu Aguirre confirmed that talks between Salah’s agent and Real chiefs did take place in the last few days.

Aguirre said: “Real Madrid have received a visit from the representative of Liverpool player Mohamed Salah.

“I’m not saying that they’re going to sign him, I’m just saying that his agent – Ramy Abbas Issa – has been at the Bernabeu.”

It looks like Real are growing increasingly confident, having witnessed how we let go of playmaker Coutinho to Barcelona for a substantial amount of money.

But if they think it’s easy to get Salah, then they are absolutely wrong as Klopp won’t surrender his prolific forward just a year after signing him, especially following Coutinho’s January departure.
