It has been a bittersweet winter window for Liverpool so far, which has seen us sign defender Virgil van Dijk from Southampton and lose playmaker Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona. After selling Coutinho to the Catalan giants, it looks like our fans might also have to see Mohamed Salah leave the club to join Real Madrid in the summer, as per reports.

Salah has been a revelation for Jurgen Klopp’s side since his arrival from Roma six months ago, scoring 24 goals and supplying 7 assists in 31 games so far this campaign. The 25-year-old’s stunning form has led to speculation about his Anfield future.

Spanish giants Real Madrid have been linked with a move for the Egyptian as they look to reinvent their frontline, with president Florentino Perez expected to sanction some big-money signings this summer.

Real are currently enduring a dismal campaign, with forwards Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Isco and Gareth Bale all struggling for form. However, the European champions are confident of luring Salah away from the Reds in the summer, according to Egyptian FA president Hany Abo Rida.

“Real Madrid will make an offer for Salah during the summer,” Rida was quoted by the Daily Star.

“Salah is now looking to improve his game. Obviously if an Egyptian plays for a club as popular around the world as Real Madrid, it’s going to be great for Egyptian football.”

The signing of Salah could be a statement of intent from Real next season as well the catalyst for a major shake-up at the Bernabeu. With Real being 19 points off the top of the table, the League is almost lost for Zinedine Zidane, while the team’s record this season does not inspire confidence ahead of their Champions League knockout clash against Paris Saint-Germain.

Spanish journalist Edu Aguirre has also confirmed that talks between Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas Issa and Real chiefs did take place in the last few days.

“Real Madrid have received a visit from the representative of Liverpool player Mohamed Salah,” Aguirre said.

“I’m not saying that they’re going to sign him, I’m just saying that his agent – Ramy Abbas Issa – has been at the Bernabeu.”

In my opinion, Klopp won’t let our star man depart just a year after signing him. However, if Salah wants to leave Anfield and join Real, he might have to struggle just like Coutinho, who had to go through a lot before joining Barcelona.
