Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign Brazilian forward Luan. The 24-year-old scored 8 goals in 12 games during the 2017 Copa Libertadores and was named as the player of the tournament.

Yahoo reports that the Reds have opened talks with the Gremio forward, who was the star of the recent Copa Libertadores. Luan, who only signed a new contract with Gremio in November, was previously linked with both Leicester City and Arsenal.

The Brazilian featured for Gremio in their 1-0 FIFA World Club Cup Final loss to Real Madrid earlier this season. However, Gremio president Romildo Bolzan claimed Luan would never leave the club “without a favourable renewal of his situation”.

“Luan said he was ready to renew and would never leave without a favourable renewal of his situation,” Bolzan was quoted by Yahoo.

“He has now kept his word. In addition, it demonstrates that we are willing to keep our players and our important values, especially those formed at home. This shows how important our youth policy, technical policy and sports policy is in making Gremio increasingly competitive. We will celebrate this moment.”

With reports of Daniel Sturridge leaving Anfield this month, Jurgen Klopp could look to tie up Luan to an agreement that would see the forward move to Merseyside this summer.

Considering recent success of South American players at Anfield, Luan, who has a release clause of £18million, could do miracles by teaming up with Klopp after the end of the current season. Liverpool fans reacted on social media and would understandably be happy if our club decides to strike a deal with Gremio for the talented forward.
