“We have to show what we really want” Klopp urges Liverpool to focus after a disappointing week

Jurgen Klopp

It has been a very disappointing week for Liverpool. The Reds first tasted a surprise defeat last Monday against Swansea in the Premier League and the mood further dampened when we were knocked out of the FA Cup by West Brom on Saturday.

The Reds have to bounce back and thankfully the game against Huddersfield Town comes on Tuesday. Ahead of the game, Klopp admitted that the team needs to respond immediately.

“It’s not difficult to think about it [recovering for the Champions League]; it’s more difficult to find the right answer,” Klopp was quoted by the Guardian.

“We have to show in the next game what we really want. It’s not the first game we’ve lost and it’s all about reactions. We have to do better. We’ve played two games in a row in which we didn’t perform like we can. Look at both games and you have to say that was not good enough, simple as that. What we achieve, we will see in the next few games.

“There are a lot of games to play, a lot of big challenges waiting for us and we have to be ready. After each defeat, if you learn from it, then it makes a little bit of sense. If you don’t learn from it, then it makes absolutely no sense. Of course the pressure increases in a situation like this, the pressure we make on ourselves, but that’s how it is.”

With just a couple of days for the transfer window to shut down, Klopp has refused to rule out any last-minute activity at Anfield. The departure of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona earlier this month robbed us of a great talent but we are yet to sign a replacement. After a forgettable weak, our manager could surprise everyone with a late swoop.

While Thomas Lemar remains Liverpool’s top transfer priority, the Mirror understands that the availability of Monaco forward Keita Balde has put Liverpool and Arsenal on high alert. The Senegalese only joined the Ligue 1 giants in the summer from Lazio but new Monaco sporting director Michael Emenalo seems to have put the player on the transfer list.

Keita was a star at Lazio but has failed to lighten up the Principality so far this campaign. If Klopp is thinking of getting the winger on our books, then he needs to act fast for sure.
