Liverpool and Arsenal set to battle it out for £40million goalkeeper – reports

Liverpool are reportedly interested in a sensational summer move for Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland but they could face competition from Arsenal. Although the Potters have struggled for a good majority of the season so far, Butland has been quite a solid player for them in front of the net and he was linked with an exit from the club in the recently concluded January window. However, he chose to stay put last month but that should not deter Jurgen Klopp from trying again in the summer.

According to a report by Goal, our boss has given up hope on Mignolet and Karius, who have both disappointed between the sticks.

If we were to make a move for him, there is no doubt that the 24-year-old would be interested in completing a move. He has his eye on the England No.1 jersey and to get his hands on the same, playing for Liverpool would certainly boost his chances. He has already proven himself in the top-flight and it is about time he makes the step up to join a top-level side as well.

Given his skills, he does seem like a good player and someone we must actively pursue. However, the only stumbling block in our way could be Arsenal’s interest in him, since the Gunners will also be looking for a Petr Cech replacement.

Butland represents an exciting talent and he is someone who can work wonders in goal. Estimated to be valued at around £40million, there is absolutely no doubt that Butland can prove to be a valuable addition for whichever team he joins. He is blessed with lightning-fast reflexes along with a mature reading of the game, which often helps him sniff out danger even before it materialises. In fact, time and again, Butland has been hailed as one of the most promising goalkeepers in the league at present.

We have been conceding soft goals left, right and centre and the goalkeeping department needs to be strengthened. It is quite obvious that we need an upgrade on Mignolet and Karius, and Butland seems like a good option to pursue.
