Liverpool were at it again as the Reds brushed aside David Moyes’ West Ham United at Anfield. The Reds had come off a great win over Porto in the Champions League but there were fears that ring rust would harm them as we did not play a game last weekend.
There were further worries when Loris Karius just about tipped a dipping shot from Marko Arnautovic on to the post in the first half before Emre Can scored. One quickly became two as Mohamed Salah scored his 31st goal of the season (more on that later) and we made it three as Roberto Firmino scored a no-look goal after beating Adrian.
Our defence went to sleep a little as Michail Antonio scored right after the kick-off but we again got our three-goal lead back as Sadio Mane rightly got on to the score sheet after missing an easier chance a few minutes before that.
The win not only ensured we did not have any hangovers from our European nights but we also ended up being one point above Manchester United going into second place.
There were a number of stats and records broken in this game and here are just a few of them:
The numbers are really interesting and this season has been absolutely brilliant for us so far, especially on the attacking front. Ah! I just can’t wait for Manchester United to lose tomorrow. Wouldn’t that be a wonderful weekend for us?
